Farewell

Hi!!!

Today I am going to travel around my learning journey. In order to do so I have created this interactive BoardGame using Genial.ly. I used a space trip as theme to show how much I have learnt during these few months. I am still in shock after realizing how many things I am able to do now. I am sure of only one thing... this trip has just started...

As you can see, in the right side you can see the tokens to move around the board after using the dice. When you are in a new box click on the number to see what I have learnt in that stop of my journey. Every number has something hidden...

I think creating a boardgame is a very creative idea to revise something in your class.I am sure that our students will love to play with an interactive boardgame.

I hope you enjoy this game as much as I did when I created it.

I just can say, THANK YOU FRANCISCO, you are GREAT TEACHER!!

The world is my audience #twima8

Hello there!!!

Today I want to share with you this new tool for me, flipgrid. Then I entered the code for #twima8 - We all have a story. I did it directly from my computer and it was the easiest thing ever!! I log in with my email, I entered the code and I could record from the computer, it was very easy and the steps to follow were very intuitive.

I strongly recommend this experience, not only for the fact of sharing anecdotes, but for the good moment I had with my boyfriend remembering memories to choose the accurate one!

I think that sharing stories with our students could be a great idea to strengthen our relationship with them and making them more confident with us, therefore I recommend every one to use this kind of tools with their students! Maybe we can discover many interesting things about them and thanks to that make our classes more attractive for them!!

Here I share with you the grid in case you want to take part of this experience!

And I also share with you my video with my experience!!

I hope you like it! And please, record yourself and share your video with me!!

See you soon!!!

Record the video clip

Hi!!! Are you exited?? Because I am!!

I have to recon that it was reeeeeally hard to record the video clip....

As I told you we wanted to start with a videocall.... Well, we tried many different apps.. First, the very well-known Skype but one of us (the one recording) appeared in a small circule and we wanted to appear in a square with the same size.... Then we thought that maybe Whatsapp could be an option but when we wanted to record the screen I could only record my voice but not my friends' voices... Well... You can imagine how stressful was the situation... Finally, after many attempts, we tried Zoom and it was perfect!! Before recording we revised when we needed to talk and what we were going to say, some different ways to introduce eachother, etc.

Once we had the introduction, it was time to record our individual part. I was going to be Frida Kahlo, so I needed to create some flower with tissue paper and pint my famous eyebrow 😜. I used TouchCast Studio with my ipad to record the video since I could change the background directly. My brother was recording me and I can't remember how many times I did repite the same part once and again (I will pay a coke for him when we can go to a bar).

In order to put all the parts together we used imove which is a quite simple app where you just drag the elements and you can add sounds, music and different effects and, also, modify the volume.

Finally, we uploaded the video in Youtube to show it to you!

And this was the result!!

To finish with I would like to share with you a short reflection about recording a videoclip... I think it is totally worth the hard work and the effort... Students will enjoy seeing their teachers in a video and how they enjoy and customize themselves... It is really motivating, not only for student but for us as well. I really enjoyed doing this with my friends.

I recommend everyone to try this and play the videoclip in class, for sure the students' reaction will be shoking!

Storyboard a video project.

Hi everyone!!!

I hope you are well!! Today I am going to present you how my friends (Tania, Paloma and Irati) and me have prepared a storyboard in order to do a video clip later.

First, we decided the topic: IMPORTANT WOMEN IN THE HISTORY. We have chosen this topic to play this video in the Women's day, on the 8th of March. Then we investigated some important women along the History, since we were four, we chose 4 important women: Marie Curie, Hedy Lamarr, Frida Kahlo and Dian Fossey.

When we knew the character we investigated interesting facts of their life and why they became so important.

After that, we created the idea or how to create the story, so we did a storyboard with Canva. With this we wanted to make clear the idea, choose the order of the footages... In order to put all the ideas together we shared a document in Google Drive so all of us had access to it.

We decided to do an introduction with a videocall due to the lockdown, we thought that it could be a good idea to be 4 students preparing a project and complaining about through Zoom, and then something goes wrong and we become in each character. We decided to start with Marie Curie because is the "oldest" and finish with Dian Fossey who is the most "contemporary".

And we wanted to finish our story with another videocall where everyone of us now has some about the woman we represented, like now that we have studied them and learn about them, we are a little more like those strong women.

Here you have the storyboard from Canva.

Here you can see the script we did in Google Drive in a shared document. We inserted the storyboard there as well to have always the idea of what we wanted to do.

I am looking forward to showing you the videoclip!!

I hope you enjoy it!!

Podcast

Hi everyone!!

I hope you are having a good time at home! For this period I would like to present you a tool that might help teachers in this situation. It is to record podcast!

I have used Spreaker to record and to create a channel with my podcasts.

At the beginning It was hard for me to find where to record inside the page, you will find the option in "create a podcast with spreaker" and then "record or broadcast live". You will have to download the programme but when you got it is very easy to use.

You open the programme and then you have lots of options. You can upload your records, broadcast live or just record, you can add sound effects for your recording (I used some that I found on the Internet), although the programma gives you some sound effects but I didn't like them... And much more options, that I recommend you to explore the programme to get used to it.

For me what I didn't like the quality of my microphone, because I had to use the one that comes with my headphones (the one on my phone doesn't work and the one that my computer has is even worst...) but, if you have a good microphone it will be amazing.

To create my podcast what I did was plan what I wanted to do and to say in google docs in drive, as you can see here.

After planning, I recorded the introduction of the activity in a podcast and an example. From that page you can upload your podcast to your channel directly.

When everything is publish I will send to my student the introduction.

Then I will send them the activity modelled by me to make sure they understand what I wanted them to do.

Finally, I will send them the channel where they can listen to the directions of the activity, the example and their classmates' podcasts.

I think that this tool is a great one if you want to carry out a project with your students, it is motivating and very easy to use and I think you can use it with any topic, you just need your imagination to create something great and motivating for your students.

In my case, recording is a challenging task because I haven't done it before, but it was a good experience anyways, since I had to deal with different problems and I wasted a lot of time but I guess this happend because it was my first time podcasting. Next time will be easier 😄

See you soon in my next entry!!

Infographic

Hello Everyone!!!

Today I would like to present you Canva it is an amazing online tool where you can create presentations, certificates, worksheets... and everything you can imagine... What I like the most of it, it is that you can keep all your creations online and there is not need to download them, so as long as you have internet conextion you can access to your designs.

In my opinion, I would say that this tool is easier to use than other well-known ones, because it consist of the creation of things from simple shapes and also there are plenty templates of you don't want to start from zero, from there you only have to drag the shape, the image, whatever you want to use... It also allows you to upload your own pictures from your computer.

I hope you enjoy this tool as much as I do. I embed here an infographic with classroom rules that I have created to show you how much potential this tool has.

See you soon!!

Mindmap

Hello everyone!!!

Today I want to present you a wonderful tool to create mindmaps for your students!! It is called Mindmeaster. It is really easy to use and very helpful for your students to understand a topic.

I think mindmaps are a great resource for our classes to sum up a unit or to help those students that need a visual support 😃😃😃

For you as a teacher, it could be useful to plan your lessons since it allows you to put links for videos, images, etc.

I hope you enjoy this one I have created for you as an example.

See you very soon with more ideas for your classes!

Babies can't talk

Hi!!!

Today I would like to share with you a situation I lived in my family not long ago... My little cousin Valeria, who is 4 years old, was sad because she thought that her cousin Carlos was angry with her - Carlos was all the time crying-. Then Valeria's brother, who is 4 years old too, explain how he thought babies start talking...

It was such a lovely moment that I wanted to share with you... I am going to take advantage of this situation to present you StoryboardThat. With this tool you can create a comic to represent any situation that you want to introduce to your students or that you want to work with them...

This tool is very easy to use. You only have to pull what you need inside your strip and the same page give you different options to personalize the characters, the scenes or the bubbles...
Just to say something negative... I didn´t like that this page only give you the option of using three sketches, but if you need more you could create different strips and put them together... In my case I could manage with only three of them 😉

I hope you like the one I have created to show you this tool!

PRESENTATIONS

When we have to introduce a new topic for our students sometimes we forget that any kind of support is really useful for them! That´s why I would like to show you genially to do atractive presentations.

Not only it offers plenty templates for your presentations but also lots of options like video presentation, infographs, stories, gamification, ect.

As it offers so many templates, it is very easy to create anything very quickly!! It will help you to save time preparing your lessons!

Here you can see a presentation for you as an example of the things you can do. In this case, it is a didactic unit, but I have only developed the first lesson. I hope you enjoy it!

Here you can see the video where I explain everything! If you have any suggestion please let me know!

Content Curation

Hello over there!!

If you are reading this entry it is because you are interested in learning how we can keep some pages and resources that you find all over the Internet.

As teachers, we can find plenty of useful things on the Internet that we want to keep for other moment or for the future and use it with our students at any point.

For that purpose, there are few tools such as Pinterest, Symbaloo, Pearltrees or List.ly. In this case, I have choosen Pinterest for collecting images, activities and videos for my classes.

For me Pinterest is a great tool that allows you to keep videos from youtube, images from other users, etc. very easily and it is very visual.

Here I share with you the folder that I have created with some resources for my Science class for Primary Education. As you can see there are different kind of activities that you can easily modify for different the grades of the stage.

See you soon!!

Public Domain & Image Attribution

PUBLIC DOMAIN& IMAGE ATTRIBUTION

Hello!!! I hope you all are ok!

Today I am going to talk about copyright.

When we have a blog like this and we want to publish photos, images, etc. it is really important to attribute the picture to the owner or creator of it. If we publish something that is ours, we would like to get the merit of it, isn't it?

The first thing we should do if we want to share our work is to register our blog as a public domain! For that, you can use this page where you have different options to do so. In that link also you can find everything you need to know about public domain and its different options.

Once we have done this, we are going to learn how to recognize someone merit when we copy pictures from the internet.

When we paste a photo in our blog, you can click on the photo and appear some options, we will use the one that says "add a legend" and there we say who´s picture is that as you can see below!

Creating an avatar: Maricusqui

Hello!!!

My name is Maricusqui and I am 28. Hopefully I will be a bilingual teacher very soon! I love reading, riding horse and baking.

In this blog I will post any new idea to use in your bilingual class.

This is the first one, a blog! In a blog you can keep all your ideas, works and, why not? anything you would like to share with other teachers. In addition, if you have great ideas but you can't put them into practice it is a great place to keep them for the future!

Creating your own avatar it is also an amazing activity! I have used bitmoji, but there are a lot of more apps to create your emoji like tellegami, doppelme, portrait avatar maker, rawshorts, etc.

In bitmoji you can use your phone to download the app and just with a selfie you can customize your own avar, choose some features, clothes, etc. When you finish you can see lots of stikers which you can send through email, post in your blog or, even, send using whatsapp to your contacts!

Having an avatar is quite motivating and inspirating, your students will love the idea for sure!

In your classes you can encourage your students to create their own avatar and have their own blog, where they can post all their tasks, as a portfolio. You can use their blog to assess them!

For more ideas  you can scan this code and have this blog on your phone if your are using your computer 😉. You can also share this with your friends!
